Content Lead Role Purpose
We require a Content Design Lead who will operate under the guidance of the internal Content Strategist, focusing on:

  • Leading a comprehensive audit of existing site content to surface gaps, strengths, and improvement opportunities.

  • Co-developing foundational content standards and a web-specific content playbook to ensure consistency, scalability, and compliance with evolved brand and tone.

  • Shaping message hierarchies, governance frameworks, and editorial workflows across multiple channels.

  • Guiding teams and vendors to translate complex topics into clear, accessible, and engaging digital journeys.

  • Supporting DVF (Design, Voice, Function) testing cycles to validate content quality, usability, and resonance with diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a cohesive, actionable content strategy tailored for digital experiences—web, app, email, chat—aligned with brand vision and Tone Language Guide.

  • Architect content flows and pillars to support both customer journeys and business goals (e.g., sales, servicing).

  • Establish and maintain editorial calendars, workflows, and governance documentation, ensuring efficient production, review, and updating of content.

  • Lead workshops, give creative and editorial direction, and champion best-practice UX writing, accessibility, and inclusive language principles.

  • Collaborate closely with Product Designers, UX/UI, Brand, Tech, and African market teams to embed strategic content into design delivery and localisation.

  • Monitor and optimise content performance using analytics and research insights, applying iterative improvements as needed.

Key Deliverables

  • Comprehensive content audit report with actionable insights.

  • Web content playbook defining content standards, tone, and workflows.

  • Message frameworks and copywriting guidelines for priority customer journeys.

  • Governance model and blueprint for content workflow and approvals.

  • DVF testing results and recommendations.

  • Weekly progress updates and final handover collating all documentation and standards.

Required Expertise

  • 8+ years’ experience in digital content leadership (copywriting, UX writing, content strategy) for large, multi-channel brands—preferably financial services or fintech.

  • Track record in developing digital content frameworks, governance, and scalable standards.

  • Deep understanding of UX writing, content design for web/app, SEO, information architecture, and digital accessibility.

  • Experience leading content quality uplift in Agile and Design Thinking settings, with strong stakeholder influencing skills.

  • Familiarity with advanced CMS (ContentStack, Adobe Experience Manager, Contentful), Figma, Miro, Jira.

  • Strong analytical mindset to leverage data for content optimisation; cultural intelligence to adapt messaging across African markets.

Success Indicators

  • Clearly measurable improvement in content quality, customer engagement, and trust.

  • Consistent voice and brand attributes across all digital customer journeys.

  • Positive feedback from stakeholders and end users.

  • Increased adoption of new content standards and playbooks business-wide.
